I loved making this book. Every stage of it. The research. The shark dives. The getting to know my heroes beyond their documented work. The writing, which didn't come that easy; I had never written a childrens book or story before. Then, seeing it come to live through the illustrations. And ever since... speaking about it. I love speaking about it!
Sharks. They are a fascinating evelutionary wonder. Did you know they roamed the seas long before the Dinosaurs appeared on our planet? That they have been called the doctors or achitects of the sea? Not many people know that we need them. Sharks are indispensable for the existence of the oceans.
I have had a passion for sharks since I met my first Shark Hero in person. I swam in multiple places with sharks and discovered that they are not dangerous but in danger, and that they are in desperate need of our help. In Shark Heroes, a combination of fiction and non fiction, I show with help of bizarre shark facts and heroic ocean advocates - captains, marine biologists, deep sea divers and modern mermaids - that sharks are the true heroes of the oceans.
My Shark Heroes are: Peter Hammarstedt, Sylvia Earle, Riley Elliott, Ocean Ramsey, Cristina Zenato, Vincent Mock, Valerie Taylor, Gary Stokes, Rob Stewart and Ginevra Boldrocchi. You can learn more about them through the following links.
